This is a great project for beginners but also very satisfying and quick to knit up for more experienced knitters. Especially when you are knitting with the yarn you have dyed yourself!

It is knitted in a “Faux Brioche”. Brioche is a form of rib that involves slipped stitches and yarn overs. The Faux (= fake!) Brioche is made up of a clever combination of just knit and purl stitches, giving the overall impression of a real Brioche. The zig-zag texture is ideal for scarves and will hold its shape really well.

The addition of a vertical slit in the scarf is a nod back to the Victorian tippet; a small stole that has a loop at one end to allow weaving the other end through it to help keep it in place. By pulling one end of the scarf through the opening, it stays in place without the added bulk of a knot.

Materials: Tall Yarns Superwash Merino DK (225 m. per 100 grs.) or equivalent

Metreage needed: 1 hank knits a scarf of approx. 110 cm (43”)
